Hanging Heart Mobile
An easy Valentine's Day craft to warm anyone's heart

Supplies Needed:
  • Red, white, pink and/or purple construction paper
  • White glue
  • Length of string, ribbon, or yarn
  • Scissors

Directions:
  1. Using the construction paper, cut 8 hearts including:
    • 2 very large hearts
    • 2 large hearts
    • 2 medium hearts
    • 2 small hearts
(The easiest way to make symmetrical hearts is to fold the construction paper in half. You can either cut them freehand, or draw half a heart on one of the folded sides and cut along your line).
  2. Take each pair of hearts and glue them back to back with string, yarn, or ribbon between them vertically. Leave a space between each pair of hearts on the ribbon.
  3. Decorate each pair of hearts any way you like. Some ideas include:
    • Cutting more hearts and gluing smaller hearts to the larger ones for a layered look
    • Glue bits of ribbon, lace or candy to the hearts
    • Decorate the hearts with stickers or crayons
    • Give the hearts faces with puff paint
    • Write messages on the hearts like "I love you" or "friends"
  4. Hang the heart mobile from the ceiling or wall or give it as a gift to a mom, grandma or a friend.

Egg Carton Caterpillar
A Fun way to recycle your egg cartons

Supplies Needed:
  • 1 egg carton
  • bright colored paint
  • pipe cleaner
  • googly eyes or white felt scraps
  • black marker
  • scissors

Directions:
  1. Cut the cover of the egg carton off and discard. Cut the bottom of egg carton in half lengthwise. Note: 1 egg carton will make two caterpillars.
  2. Paint both halves with bright colors. You can paint each egg slot a different color if you like.
  3. Cut the pipe cleaner and insert two pieces into the head end of the caterpillar for antennae.
  4. Glue the googly eyes onto the head. If using white felt, cut into small circles for eyes and use marker to make black pupils in the eyes.
