Spring into spring!
Give Mom a helping hand with a bouquet of special things you can do for her! She can redeem them whenever she needs a little help around the house, yard or just a big bear hug.
Supplies Needed:
- Tacky Glue
- Scissors
- Florists picks/straws
- Flower Pot (optional)
- Styrofoam or sand
- Colored paper
- Tape
Directions:
Trace and cut around your child's hand 4-6 times on colored paper. Also make 6 leaves on green paper. Write messages on the hands such as...water the plants, One Big Hug, Clean my room, etc. Tape the hands to the back of the florist picks. Add paper leaves if desired. Fill the pot with Styrofoam or sand. If your pot has a drainage hole be sure to tape over it if you are using sand. Insert the Flowers into the pot and you are done! For a special touch, fill the pot with chocolate candies or jelly beans, YUM!

Supplies Needed:
- white paper (we use construction paper)
- green finger paint and red finger paint (or pink, white or yellow)
Directions:
- Dip the forearm (from elbow to wrist) in green finger paint. If you don't have a tray big enough to accommodate this, just paint the finger paint onto the forearm with a paintbrush.
- Press the arm down 3 or 4 times onto a sheet of white paper (construction paper works great!) to make the stems of the tulips
- Now dip the hand (excluding the thumb) into red finger paint and stamp on top of the stems (holding the thumb up) to make the tulip flowers.
- Keep the fingers close together.
- You can add fingerprint green stems, thumbprint green grass, thumbprint caterpillars and thumbprint butterflies.

These beautifully vibrant butterflies are a great way to welcome spring! Suspend them from the ceiling with fishing line, or make several and attach to a paper plate mobile.
Supplies Needed:
- 1/2 black chenille stem
- Paper coffee filter
- Water color paints
- Paint brush
- Water
Directions:
- Flatten the coffee filter and place it on a plate or newspaper, the paint and water will soak through. Set aside on paper towels to dry.
- Fold the chenille stem in half. Remember, you are only using half of a chenille stem to begin with.
- Fold the coffee filter accordion style, in about 1/2" pleats.
- Position the pleated coffee filter into the bent end of the chenille stem. Center the filter at the bend.
- Twist the chenille stem around the filter to secure it in place.
- Bend the tips of the chenille stems over about 1/4" to create the antennae.
- Fan out the butterfly wings.
- If desired, hang with yarn or fishing line.
Helpful Hints
- For a more vibrant butterfly, be sure to paint all white areas with paint.
- Tie a piece of fishing line around the "neck" and suspend from the ceiling. They will look like they are flying!
- Instead of using all the colors on one filter, make some with warm colors (red, yellow, orange) and some with cool colors (blue, green, purple).
