Tourist
Combine loud clothes with a toy camera, a hat, and maps sticking out of every pocket.use your imagination!

Firefighter Little Firefighter
Find a black sweatshirt that is too big. Cut it down the middle and glue in Velcro to act as buttons. Cut yellow strips of felt and glue them around the bottom and center of the sweatshirt as well as on the collar and cuffs. Add a toy fireman hat and badge for the final touch.

Soldier or Hunter
Piece together whatever combination of camouflage you can find and apply some green and brown face paint to the child's face. Add a backpack and a real or child's compass and canteen and you're set.

Creative Harry Potter
Find a full wig of curly hair for your child. Then hang 2 or 3 lightweight cooking pots from a belt around the child's waist. Walla!

Cute Little Bunny
Sleeper PJ's become costumes very easily. Find a pink, white, or brown pair of PJ's. Cut floppy ears out of felt or a similar material and connect them to a headband, attach them to a winter hat, or bobby pin them. Create a tail by gluing a bunch of cotton balls to the PJ's or come up with your own creative alternative. Draw whiskers on the child's cheeks with brown or black eyeliner or face paint.

Friendly Ghost
This is always an inexpensive costume. Just cut holes in an old sheet. If you don't have an old sheet, you can probably find a pretty cheap twin size one at a discount store. Cut holes out of the sheet for eyes and then decorate it with chains, spider webs, and whatever else you'd like with a permanent marker.

Strawberry Adorable Strawberry
Glue white sequins or buttons to a pair of red leggings and a long-sleeve red shirt. Then glue a jagged green felt collar around the shirt's neckline. Finally, cover a pink or red winter hat with green felt, creating a stem at the top with a rubber band or pony-tail holder.

Perfect Angel
This one is almost as easy as a ghost. Find an old or cheap sheet like for the ghost. Spray it lightly with clear spray paint and toss glitter on it before the paint has a chance to dry. Make a halo and the wings by bending clothes hangers to the correct shape and covering them with aluminum foil.

Nerd
This costume always draws a chuckle. Combine pants that are too small with white tube socks and a flannel shirt buttoned up wrong. Slick back the child's hair with gel. Then put white tape around the center of an old pair of glasses. For the final touch, have the child carry a BIG book under one arm.

Ladybug A Little Lady Bug
Dress the child in black pants, a black turtleneck or long-sleeve shirt, a red fleece vest, and a black baseball cap or winter hat. If you can find some ladybug rain boots, they are really cute. Otherwise, find a pair of black rain boots. Then cut circles out of black felt and attach them to the red vest with masking tape or safety pins. Then, attach red pipe cleaners to the baseball cap or winter hat with black electrical tape to form ladybug antennae.

Ninja
This costume is every little boy's dream! Find a pair of baggy black pants (perhaps those of an older sibling) and a long black shirt tied around the waist with a piece of black, white or red cloth. Make a ninja mask by cutting holes out of a small scrap of black cloth. Instead of buying toy weapons, you can make them by cutting shapes out of card-board and covering them with aluminum foil. It's easy to make Ninja stars or a knife. You can even make num-chucks by connecting two paper towel rolls with a piece of twine and covering them with black construction paper.

Rock Star
Just think back to the 80's for this one. Find old, bright colored clothes and put a bunch of holes and tears in them. Then, spike the child's hair using hair spray. Create jewelry with safety pins and clip on earrings. Then, paint the child's face with makeup. For an extra touch, you could buy some temporary spray in hair color!

Doctor A Doctor
Start this costume with a large, white, collared shirt (an old one of Dad's works well). Lay it flat and use permanent markers to draw a red cross on one side of the chest and "Dr. So-and-So" on the other (slip a piece of cardboard between the front and back of the shirt so the ink doesn't soak through. Then arm your child with a toy doctor's kit, slipping the stethoscope around his or her neck for extra effect.

Peter Pan
This costume won't guarantee that your child can fly-but it will guarantee that he or she looks great! Start with a long green t-shirt, a stocking cap, and either leggings or tights (you can also dye white clothes the right shade of green). Next, cut the neckline, sleeves, and bottom of the t-shirt into a zigzag pattern. Accessorize the hat with a large feather. Then, create a belt for the shirt with a rope or an old leather belt. You can also make a small sword to hang from the belt by cutting it out of cardboard and covering it with aluminum foil.

Little Devil Little Devil
For this costume, the child will need a red turtleneck, a pair of red tights or leggings, and shiny black boots. Headbands with devil's horns are pretty easy to find around Halloween, but you can make them yourself by gluing red cardboard horns to a regular red headband. Then create a cape out of a black trash bag or big piece of black cloth cut into a bell shape. Attach it to the back of the turtleneck with black electrical tape. Finish the look with red face paint (be careful to keep it away from your child's eyes).

Bob the Builder
You've gotta love WQLN characters! Start this costume with denim overalls, sturdy boots, and a long-sleeved red t-shirt. Next, cut a regular kitchen sponge into a square shape, dip it into yellow fabric paint, and stamp yellow squares onto the shirt. Finish off the outfit with a party-store construction hat and toy tools tied onto an old belt.

One Crayon or a Pack
This is a great costume for cold weather because you can layer t-shirts or turtlenecks underneath! For this costume, you need a solid color sweat-suit (you can probably find one at a discount store or factory outlet). To decorate the sweat-suit, cut the letters of C-R-A-Y-O-N and perhaps the color of your sweat-suit out of black felt (scale them to the size of the person wearing the costume). Apply tacky glue to the shapes. When it is dry, place the letters on the sweat-suit. Using poster board the color of the sweat-suit, create a cone-shaped hat (the crayon's point) by making an appropriate-sized cone and stapling, taping, or gluing the ends together. Create a chin-strap for the hat by stapling a piece of elastic to either side of the hat. A child can be one color crayon or a group of friends or a whole family can dress as a box of crayons!

Doughboy Doughboy
All you need to do for this adorable costume is combine a pair of white sweat pants, a paper chef's hat (available at restaurant supply store or a children's store) a scrap of white fabric tied into a neck scarf, a wooden spoon, and a plastic mixing bowl to collect candy in.
