Footprint Ghost Craft

Supplies Needed:
  • Black construction paper
  • Black marker or paint
  • White tempra or poster paint
  • Large ice cream container lid
  • Sponge or paintbrush
  • A foot!

Directions:
  1. Put a piece of dark paper down on the floor (you may want to cover a small area with newspaper to keep things clean.
  2. Spread white paint in a thin layer on a large ice cream container lid and have the child dip their foot in. Help them roll their foot inward to get paint on their instep as well (TIP: tell them to put their knees together while keeping their feet on the floor).
    OR
Use a sponge paintbrush (about 25 cents each at your local hardware or craft store) to spread some white paint onto the child's foot
  3. Have the child step onto the dark paper. Again, help them roll their foot inward so their instep stamps too (otherwise your ghost's body will have a bit of a blank spot in the middle)
  4. Let paint dry (while cleaning up)
  5. Use black marker or paint to blob on two eyes and a mouth.

Halloween Goo Game

Going door-to-door can be a taxing enterprise, so why not let your 'tweenager combine work and relaxation with this spa costume?

Materials:
  • A bag of tapioca you will find in the dried food department of the supermarket.
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Plastic spiders or other charms

Directions:
  1. Take the bag of tapioca and put half in a bowl with some water and soak it for 1 hour.
  2. Drain the water and add more water (not milk as it will say on the packet)
  3. Put in the microwave for a few minutes and the stir. repeat this until it starts to go clear
  4. When it is clear add the food coloring and mix well. ( it will be very sticky)
  5. Leave to cool
  6. Add your spiders or charms.

Note:
  • The longer you cook the tapioca the more sticky it gets so you can cook it in to a slime that you can roll and mould into shapes.

The game:
  • Blindfold the child and let them put their hand in the very sticky, lumpy cold slime. They have 30 seconds to grab a charm to win a prize.
